President Taiwo Oyewumi leads a high powered delegation to Abuja max-h-[350px]

The NSP President Taiwo Oyewumi will tomorrow Friday 14/11/2014 lead a delegation of NSP executives,stakeholders and selected members to initiate bilateral relations with the Honourable Supervising Minister of Health, Alhaji Khaliru Alhassan and the Ministry of Health. It can be recalled that the NSP president informed the general house at the Opening Ceremony of the recently concluded 54th Annual Scientific Conference and General Meeting at Nelrose Hotel, Asaba on the 6th of November 2014 that an appointment to meet with the Honourable Minister was in view.

Speaking to the media, the President said "It is important for us as a society to ensure that our profession takes its rightful place in the health sector in our dear country Nigeria. We have to continue to be proactive in our advocacy and ensure that we leave no stone unturned to achieve our collective goal of moving the profession forward."

Some of the issues he highlighted to be discussed are listed but not limited to the following:

1. To demand for unconditional reversal of non payment of salaries to NUAHP members currently on industrial action.
2. To fast track the National Postgraduate Physiotherapy College of Nigerian executive bill passage.
3. To broker peace in the health sector.
4. Other challenges facing NSP and the profession of Physiotherapy in Nigeria.

He had earlier called on members to forward inputs to be included in the final draft of NSP Memo to the Minister."We will continue to work conscientiously to present our submissions to the Minister and follow up on the outcomes of the round table long after the meeting is over"

In other developments,The newly elected NSP members will be sworn in as well during this offcial assignment.The North cacaus will host Mr. President to a grand reception on Saturday 15th, November, 2014 at Kano. This will be followed by advocacy visits to seek support for the approval of DPT curriculum as B-MAC by the NUC and other related issues. Mr. President is also expected to visit the Kogi NSP in preparation for 2015 NSP Annual Scientific Conference/AGM.
