Reuters report monitored from Lagos on 26/07/2014 indicates that the Lagos Ministry of Health has issued a statement saying a Liberian man in his 40s arrived with the deadly Ebola virus in Lagos, Nigeria.This case is confirmed and will be the first recorded case of the dreaded Ebola disease in Nigeria.The Honorable Minister for Health Prof Onyebuchi Chukwu has retierated this in a news report by Channels TV.

The patient in question is now deceased.The Special Adviser on Public Health to the Lagos State Government, Yewande Adeshina, told pressmen at a news conference that the man had arrived in Lagos from Liberia on Sunday. He was admitted and detained on suspicion of possible EBV (Ebola) infection; while blood sample collection and testing was initiated.
