On Friday, August 21st 2015, ....The Nigeria Society of Physiotherapy (NSP), led by President Taiwo Oyewumi, visited the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, Prof. Julius Okojie in Abuja.
....The Acting Registrar of the Medical Rehabilitation Therapist Board, Mrs Olufunke Akanle was also part of the delegation which was hosted by the Executive Secretary of the Commission.
The Nigeria Society of Physiotherapy in collaboration with the medical Rehabilitation Therapist Board paid a working visit to the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission with the main purpose of discussing the need for physiotherapy training curriculum upgrade.
Some identified deficiencies in the current 5-year curriculum were highlighted during the visit and a 6-year clinical doctorate (Doctor of Physical Therapy) curriculum was presented.
This informative session provided some insights on possible options and paths that may be considered towards the goal of producing competent physiotherapy practitioners that can meet the need of today's patients through translational physiotherapy education.
