As World Physiotherapy Day approaches on September 8, 2013 many state chapters are already preparing in earnest for the day set aside globally by the World Confederation of Physical Therapy to raise awareness about our noble profession as well as highlight the public health issues of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). The theme of this year's celebration is " FIT FOR the FUTURE".
The global community continues to battle the menace of NCDs by advocating healthy lifestyles and encouraging safe increases in physical activity levels.The Nigeria Society of Physiotherapy will be joining colleagues from all around the world in this quest for the benefit of the nigerian populace.The OGUN STATE CHAPTER is the official host of the national executive coucil members and they have in the pipeline series of activities to mark this year's event. The Chairman, Mr Mike Ogunlana has indicated his commitment and dedication with his team to ensure that this year's series of events will make the desired impact both in Abeokuta, the state capital where things are set to kickoff and beyond its borders. The series of activities outlined by the Local Organizing Committee of the OGNSP World Physiotherapy Day 2013 is listed as follows:
Sunday September 8, 2013 - Sunday Morning Live (8.30-09:00am)
Monday 9 and Tuesday 10 September - Radio/TV programming on the theme " FIT FOR THE FUTURE". Courtesy calls to Government Functionaries and stakeholders/policymakers.
Wednesday September 11, 2013 - Community walk in Abeokuta Township (from 9am) and public lecture at Neuro-psychiatric Hospital, ARO Abeokuta (12 noon)
