Who is Joseph A. BALOGUN?

Joseph A. Balogun is an accomplished academic leader, strategic planner, and educator with more than 20 years of success designing, implementing, and evaluating high quality academic programs, policies, systems, and services for major U.S. and international universities.

Well-suited with key strengths in the areas of instructional programming, course design, and multi-disciplinary curriculum development for traditional and non-traditional students.

Combines educational administration expertise with a history of accomplishment in operations management, grant procurement/administration, and transformational leadership.

Successful in securing and implementing millions of dollars in state, federal, and local grant funding for a wide range of research and training programs/projects.

Employs a global, multi-cultural mindset while leveraging diverse experience in both American and British education systems.

Distinguished University Professor – College of Health Sciences – June 16, 2013-Present: Returned to faculty rank after 13 years of administrative duties as Dean of the College of Health Sciences.

Distinguished University Professor and Dean – College of Health Sciences – September 1, 1999-June 15, 2013: Formulated, administered and evaluated College of Health Sciences policies, procedures, and best practices.

Provided leadership and executive oversight of degree programs including Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Health Information Administration, Public Health, Pre-physical Therapy and Community Health. Monitored and maintained excellence in program quality, curriculum viability, instructional delivery, and learning excellence.

Presided over College-wide educational, research, and service missions while also managing the University’s Wellness/Health Center and HIV/AIDS Research and Policy Institute. Established and promoted a shared vision based upon emerging trends and senior institution objectives.

Mentored, coached, and trained administrators, faculty, students and staff. Build and cultivated key relationships with transfer institutions, local employers and community, and key stakeholders. 

Key Achievements:

Orchestrated turnaround solutions to reverse significant decline in student enrollment and transform Nursing Program on probation due to poor performance of graduates on national licensure examination (avg. <75%).

Launched successful recruitment and marketing drive, resulting in 34% increase in enrollment for College of Health Sciences vs. overall 5% decrease in campus-wide enrollment.

Employed educational counselor to provide individualized mentoring and coaching for faculty and students. Revamped and revitalized academic programs and curricula emphasizing academic rigor as well as best-in-industry developments, trends, and innovations in the health care system. 

Boosted average pass rate of Nursing graduates to 90%, surpassing state and national norms. Elevated College’s national status to an elite undergraduate nursing programme.
