Dear Nigerian Physiotherapists, I wish to congratulate us as we celebrate the World Physiotherapy Day. This is a day that we appreciate the responsibility of saving lives and putting Nigerian People back to work and daily living. It is a day that we look back to analyze our contributions to the community and the progress of Physiotherapy profession in Nigeria. Have we acquired more skills than we had last year? Have we participated in educating Nigerian citizens about prevention of diseases? Have we become more disciplined at our place of work? It is also a day of looking forward and setting a plan for what we wish to achieve as a profession. I would like to call on all Nigerian Physiotherapists, from this day, to get involved in political activities in their different localities, contribute towards health policy making, intensify community outreach across the country throughout the year, collaborate to start private practices especially in areas without physiotherapy services in public institutions, and to spread forgiveness, love, peace, unity and harmony amongst physiotherapists and other health professionals. We have chosen to be physiotherapists, using our hands to aid healing, let us hold onto this responsibility passionately. This is the foundation for achieving greatness. May God bless you all as you celebrate this year’s World Physiotherapy Day. Thank you. Rufai Yusuf Ahmad President Nigeria Society of Physiotherapy.
