Communiqué from Salt City 2017

COMMUNIQUÉ ARISING FROM THE 57th ANNUAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE AND ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (AGM) HELD AT ABAKILIKI EBONYI STATE from 22-28th OCTOBER 2017.

INTRODUCTION.

The participation level of physiotherapists to this years conference was very impressive. The week long of activities starting from the Chopdin workshop and AGM,Pre-confrence workshop,plenaries and scientific sessions went without a hitch and were highly educative. The NSP Novelty Match was a thing of beauty. THE RESOLUTIONS FROM THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING ARE;

1 .Specialty Groups The AGM re-affirmed that the "NSP" must reflect in the names of specialty groups of NSP

 

2. State Chapters The AGM resolved that subsequently, all State Chapters should type and submit their reports to the Secretariat before the commencement of AGM. This is to enable the Secretary to collate all the reports before the commencement of the AGM.

 

3. MRTB AGM expressed her displeasure: That MRTB unilaterally terminated the agreement between her and NSP on dues clearance or collection before Issuance of license to Physiotherapists. That MRTB stopped inviting NSP President to the Induction of newly qualified Physiotherapists and accreditation of clinical and academic departments. That a letter be written to MRTB: to restore NSP dues clearance before issuances of MRTB licenses to members. That the NSP president should be invited to induction ceremonies and accreditation of institutions.

 

4 .Annual Scientific conference and AGM The AGM re-affirmed that Rivers State NSP will host 2018 NSP Annual Scientific Conference and AGM.

 

5. NSP Reform committee The AGM stepped down the appointment of Col P Mogbo as the Chairman of the Reform committee and appointed Dr Umo Udom as the new chairman for the committee.

 

6. NPPCN Board The AGM ratified the names of the newly appointed members of the NPPCN board which includes the following members:

7. Physiotherapy service Ltd. The AGM approved the registration of the Physiotherapy service Ltd with the CAC and appointed members into the investment board. The following members were approved by AGM to serve on the investment board

8. Trustees Following the expiration of the 10 year tenure of the previous trustees, the AGM appointed 3 new trustees for NSP. The constitution provided for 6 trustees with 10 years tenure, however the AGM in her wisdom believe that tenures of the 6 trusteed should not expire at the same time so the appointment of the remaining 3 trustees was deferred to the subsequent AGM. The following members are the newly appointed trustees:

9.The AGM appointed the following members to serve in the National Rights, Privileges and Disciplinary Tribunal:

10.Constitution Review :The AGM resolved that members should make submissions to the committee on grey areas of the constitution that require review.

11.The AGM ratified the following worthy members for the award of FNSP to be conferred on them at the next AGM at Port Harcourt

12. KADA 2016 crisis .The AGM resolved that: The Aggrieved members are still members of the Society therefore, they should be engaged to return into the fold. That NSP should continue with the on-going peace process which is convened by the MRTB for now.
